AELER: Disrupting the freight industry

AELER: Disrupting the freight industry

AELER – Axel de Tonnac; Format: 30m (11:30-12:00)

The freight industry is the backbone of today’s economy, transporting 10 trillion USD worth of goods every year. Despite the technological advances that have occurred in the past decades, this huge industry lags behind with barely any digitalisation and automation. With the challenges this industry has, come also huge opportunities to transform it.

As the need for solutions becomes urgent, AELER is seizing the moment to provide bold new technologies. First by providing the industry with a smart container to improve efficiency and monitor goods at all times. Second, by bringing traceability and visibility through data analytics and digitalisation.

How we built the first satellite operator in Switzerland

How we built the first satellite operator in Switzerland

Astrocast – Fabien Jordan; Format: 30m (13:55-14:25)

Nano-satellites are miniaturized satellites weighting less than 10kg. The first Swiss satellite, called SwissCube, is a one of them. Launched in 2009, SwissCube has been surviving in space for more than nine years. It is still operational today, making it one of the longest-know active nano-satellites.

Today, miniaturized satellites are playing a major role in the profound transformation the space sector is undergoing. In parallel, the way we launch satellites into orbit has been progressively revolutionized by companies like SpaceX. Private investors are injecting massive amount of money in the space sector, creating the NewSpace movement. This new landscape has opened the doors for highly innovative business ideas to emerge.

In late 2014, we created Astrocast, the first satellite operator originated from Switzerland. Today, Astrocast is building and launching the most advanced nano-satellite IoT network to track assets everywhere on the globe across many different industries, to monitor the environment and save lives.

chauffer l’eau chaud sanitaire (ECS).
